About the Club
The Headliners Club was conceived by Charles E. Green, the long-time publisher of the Austin American-Statesman, as a comfortable environment for those that make the Headlines and those that write the Headlines.
Before settling into its current 21st floor location above downtown Austin at Sixth and Lavaca, the club operated from facilities in the historic Driskill Hotel and later, atop the Westgate Building, near the Texas Capitol.
Today, The Headliners Club is widely known as Austin’s pre-eminent urban venue for social events and professional meetings, as well as for entertaining and fine dining in a graceful and convivial setting. The club also regularly presents a variety of special events that reflect the tastes and interests of its members and their guests.
The membership of the club continues its tradition of fostering excellence in Texas journalism through its support of The Headliners Foundation, a non-profit organization that awards prestigious annual prizes for achievements by Texas press and broadcast journalists, as well as numerous undergraduate scholarships at various Texas universities.
